While the flying cars we were promised by the science fiction of our childhood are still in development, the progress of electric vehicles is surging forward.
While fleets are unlikely to trust their precious cargoes to self-driving vehicles, until they are well-established in the public domain, electric-combustion “hybrids” are beginning to form part of the modern fleet mix.
An electric car is one thing. But what’s next – an electric truck, or electric lorry?
Elon Musk has teased such things, but we’re a long way off seeing their commercial viability, and – most importantly – affordability. The UK is going to need thousands more charge-points before any Fleet Manager trusts their vehicles not to run out of juice on the job.
